Port and Pastel De Nata; Portugal! AVEIRO

Aveiro (14th May)

The charming town of Aveiro was a beautiful place to spend a few days. The canals here give the city so much character and the gondolas that cruise up and down are a great way to spend an afternoon.

The backstreets of the city are very picturesque and you could spend hours wandering around and getting lost. From very clever graffiti art to tiled buildings – there was always something interesting to look at.

We tried to famous Aveiro pastry here – Ovos Moles. We weren't sure exactly what this was, but after tasting and reading up on it – we found out that it is a egg yolk custard encased in a crispy wafer like shell. Very sweet and satisfying – you have to try it when you are here!  These are so popular here in Aveiro, even a wall was dedicated to them in graffiti street art!

The old Aveiro train station is very nicely decorated and unfortunately no longer in use, but still is incorporated into the new train station.
